Cyberhive EUROPE®, powered by the ECSO (European Cyber Security Organisation), is Europe's premier B2B digital marketplace for the cybersecurity ecosystem, aiming to empower European vendors to grow internationally.
Pelagus Creative Web led the platform’s comprehensive technical overhaul and upgrade. We executed a structured Platform Stabilization & Upgrade project, conducting in-depth audits, refactoring and upgrading legacy code to modern standards, and implementing modern DevOps practices. This enabled a smooth migration to Drupal 10 while successfully addressing years of accumulated technical debt. The result is a modern, enterprise-grade platform with significantly improved stability and security, better performance, and long-term maintainability.
Tech Audits & Agile Workflows
To manage such a demanding environment, our team designed a rigorous three-phase strategy (Stabilize, Upgrade, Scale) guided by a detailed Gantt Chart featuring three distinct milestones:
- Deep-Dive Auditing: We conducted exhaustive Front-End and Back-End Audits to fully map the existing architecture, thoroughly documenting every custom module and deprecated library.
- Infrastructure Migration & Staging: We migrated the platform to our secure hosting environment, immediately establishing an isolated and locked Staging Environment. Within this secure setup, we executed extensive QA testing across all critical platform subsystems—ranging from user registration workflows and complex directory queries to the simulation of B2B subscription transactions—ensuring zero risk to the live operation.
- Agile Issue Management: We centralized all issue tracking via Gitea, categorizing tasks based on their criticality (D10 Blockers vs. minor improvements). This approach enabled the team to operate with absolute security, precision, and transparency.
Code Refactoring & Upgrade to Drupal 10
With the infrastructure fully secured, the development team proceeded with the upgrade execution:
- Code Refactoring & Modernization: We replaced outdated code and legacy libraries with the modern, strict standards of Drupal 10. Deprecated modules were removed or replaced with modern, lightweight alternatives.
- Database Optimization: We resolved structural inconsistencies, cleaning and aligning the database with the system's core standards.
- The Core Jump: After stabilizing the platform on the latest version of Drupal 9 (9.5.11), we successfully executed the upgrade scripts for the final transition to Drupal 10 with zero downtime.

Our team’s intervention delivered a fully secure, optimized platform to ECSO, capable of supporting the organization's long-term vision. Premium B2B subscriptions (Free & Paid Professional accounts) now operate seamlessly, and ECSO's Product Owners are equipped with the right tools for risk-free management.
Ready for Drupal 11: The most significant business value of our strategy is its forward-compatibility. Cyberhive's new architecture has been designed and refined to be 100% ready for a future upgrade to Drupal 11.
